Celebrate Father’s Day With These Great Father-Child Activities (Shh…comes with hidden life lessons!)

While there is an endless list of fun activities and adventures for Fathers and kids, the most impactful Father’s Day activities come with hidden life lessons. Here is a list of Father’s Day adventures that will impart knowledge and make your kids smile.

Activity: Go rock climbing on an indoor rock wall.

Lesson: Teach your children how to overcome something hard and scary. Whether your kid is afraid of heights or not, unless they are an experienced climber, they will most likely face a moment of fear or uncertainty. If they are half way up and don’t know what move to make next, you can talk them through things step-by-step. Once they finish the climb, they will have a sense of accomplishment and pride.

Activity: Cook together. You can even make something as simple as a grilled cheese or spaghetti. (Going to the grocery store together is part of the activity too!)

Lesson: Teach your kids the importance of working diligently, and then relishing in the finished product. This will teach them to feel autonomous, and show them the potential rewards of a job well done.

Activity: Learn to play an instrument such as the guitar, drums, or piano!

Lesson: The lesson here is that you don’t have to be an expert at something to have a good time doing it. Allowing yourself to have a good time while learning makes the experience that much better! This teaches your kids to get out of their comfort zone and tap into their creative side. And who knows, you might have a musical prodigy on your hands!

Activity: Create and distribute “Necessity Bags”. Necessity Bags are bags of life essentials that can be put assembled and given out to the homeless. They can include soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a pair of socks, granola bars, water bottles, and more.

Lesson: Teaching your kids what “necessities” are, and that not everyone has the most basic personal items, will make them more appreciative for what they have. They will also learn the importance of compassion and giving back.
