FAQs – Super Protein BōKU® In The Buff

Here at BōKU®, we firmly believe in the power of whole, healing foods. When it comes to organic food versus non-organic, the choice is easy for us. For something to be Certified Organic, it has to meet certain criteria that we believe all food should be upheld to.

To be certified organic the food must…

– Contain NO GMO’s! What’s a GMO you ask? It stands for Genetically Modified Organism. We could really go on all day about why we do not want them in our products, and especially do not want to feed them to our wonderful customers. To learn more about GMO’s, see our FAQ “What is a GMO?”

– Be grown and harvested in a safe and sustainable manner, with NO artificial fertilizers, NO artificial pesticides and NO irradiation!

– Contain NO artificial flavors, colors or preservatives!

Why else should you choose organic?

– Organic agriculture preserves natural resources and biodiversity.

– It supports animal health and welfare (for meat products, certified organic means they have not be subjected to growth hormones or harmful antibiotics).

– Organic foods have been shown to have better nutritional value than conventionally grown food.

This is called a “sachet” or “desiccant” and it is there solely to remove any moisture that may get into your product after you reseal it. Don’t worry, our sachets/desiccants are made our of natural clay. This means in the off chance it should open up in your product, there is absolutely no cause for alarm. These should be left as-is in your product to keep it at optimal freshness.
None of our products contain protein isolates. Protein isolates are processed with extra heat and/or chemicals to  obtain a higher percentage of protein. The quality of the protein is typically harmed in this process. That is why we decided to keep ours au’ naturel!
Yes! BōKU® in the Buff contains all of the essential amino acids that make a complete protein.  For your convenience, the complete amino acid analysis is on the back label.  We are using several sources of plant protein, so that makes this protein more balanced.
Absolutely! Sacha Inchi is a forest crop, which means it naturally thrives in heavily forested areas. Due to this, the demand for sacha inchi encourages reforestation (restoring plant life where it has been destroyed). Sacha inchi production and crop life is long, and it produces a very high yield. The new trend of harvesting Sacha Inchi has given many Amazonians jobs, sometimes even saving them from their former jobs of deforestation to harvest illegal crops. Sacha Inchi seeds have even been referred to as “the giving seed” by Amazonians for their sustainability, versatility, and nutritional content.

We reached out to our supplier of Sacha Inchi seeds to get their take on the sustainability of these amazing little seeds. Lead research scientist and Ph.D comments saying:

“Sacha Inchi is a native crop of Peru that has thousands of years of historical use.  Most Sacha Inchi is grown in remote regions by hard working farmers on small family lots using traditional farming methods.  Such traditional methods rely on the art and knowledge of the farmer and organically maximizing the attributes of the land and crop rather than on technology and machinery.  This creates a sustainable relationship throughout the process; supporting the farmer, growing an increasingly important crop, and leading to the production of top quality protein powders and roasted snacks.”

All in all, we can say to you with great conviction that YES, sacha inchi is a completely sustainable and renewable resource coming straight from the best mother their ever was…Mother Nature!

Dr. Adrezin has chosen to make BōKU® Super Protein 4.0 a triple source formula. Sometimes products that contain many ingredients have only small amounts of each one. Dr. Adrezin carefully chose each of our three ingredients for an amazing synergistic blend. By doing so, he was able to include ideal quantities of all three pristine organic protein sources.
Protein 4.0 contains 18 grams of protein per serving (serving size is 30 grams or about 2 tablespoons)
Yes! Protein 4.0 has Omega 3, 6 and 9 content coming from a combination of the spirulina, cranberry and sacha inchi protein.
No. Although Sacha Inchi has been called sacha peanut, Inca peanut & even mountain peanut, it is not an actual nut, it is a seed! The only reason the Sacha Inchi seed has been called a nut is because of its appearance and has nothing to do with its actual classification.
Of course you can! We try our best to always keep stock of 1 oz samples of most popular BōKU® products just for the sampling purpose! If you would like to try something out, all you have to do is give us a call at 805-650-2658 and request a sample. Samples are $5 + shipping & handling.
