BōKU® Fuels World’s Toughest Man to Toughest Mudder Victory

34-year-old endurance athlete’s training with BōKU®‘s master formulator and consumption of organic Super Food helps him clinch second-year Toughest Mudder victory

Raceway Park, Englishtown, N.J.— After a grueling 25 consecutive hours covering 90 miles and 288 obstacles, Junyong Pak, AKA “Pak Man” won the World’s Toughest Mudder competition, adding nearly 30 extra miles to his championship performance from the previous year, an achievement so astounding it spurred accusations of cheating. Pak relied on organic vegan nutrition from BōKU® Super Foods for the natural boost he needed to push his physical and mental boundaries further and capture the title once again. Some of the ingredients in BōKU’s® products are the same plant-based nutrients that the Chinese Olympians used to win gold in Beijing, generating false accusations of blood doping and steroids.

The World’s Toughest Mudder is a 24-hour extreme obstacle race designed by British Special Forces to test “strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.” The competition asks which athlete is able to cover the most ground within 24 hours–through the night–while traversing obstacles such as waist-deep mud, electric shock, and wading through ice.

Junyong Pak, a 34 year old mechanical engineer from Beverly, Massachusetts, had anticipated a side-by-side race but found this year’s competition to be far more challenging. As his competitors pushed the pace after the first 40 miles, Pak carefully pulled back. At that point, Pak admitted that the race had gone, “from a real foot race to…more of a war of attrition.”

Working with BōKU’s® master formulator and sports nutrition expert, Dr. BJ Adrezin, Pak trained with and competed using BōKU’s® organic Super Food blend throughout the race. At lap four (40 miles) he introduced a secret weapon, BōKU’s® soon to be released Super Fuel, designed specifically for elite athletes, and not yet available to the general public. He stopped to rest for only 30 minutes, while most competitors needed a break in the rest tents for several hours.

“I immediately felt euphoric after consuming the BōKU® Super Fuel with incredible energy and clarity. Looking at the other competitors it really did feel a bit like cheating, but it’s only natural, organic food from plants.”

He continued this nutritional strategy with BōKU’s® all natural energy through the night and the final hours of the race, giving him the mental and physical edge he needed to devastate competitors. At 11:21 am, 25 hours, 21 minutes, and 58 seconds after his start time, Pak crossed the finish line and claimed the title of World’s Toughest Mudder for the second year in a row. Incredibly, Pak ran nearly 30 full miles further in this year’s event.
