Do you tend to hit an energetic wall in the late afternoon? It’s not unusual to feel exhausted, stressed, or unhappy when an afternoon slump drains you of motivation.
Rather than suffer through the latter part of your day, make a healthy change.
Take a lunch break walk.
If you’re like most people, you probably spend your lunch break sitting at your desk, quickly snarfing your meal while simultaneously checking email and working.
Instead, take a real break. Leave your desk for a half hour and walk at your own pace around the office grounds, at a nearby green space, or even through your office.
A recent study by the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports found that people who walked for 30 minutes, three times a week reported feeling:
- More enthusiastic and positive
- Less tense
- Less fatigued
- Better able to cope
- More relaxed
Plus, walking regularly for 30 minutes a day can also help you improve your aerobic fitness and lose weight — bonus!
