Check out these six tips to increasing productivity in the workplace and finding your workplace Zen!
1. Ambient noise
Think of it…at the push of a button, you could be transported beachside to crashing waves, birds flying overhead, a gentle breeze blowing…ahhhhh. Sometimes at work it’s good to find that place of solace and relaxation. Well, just don’t fall asleep! Researchers have shown that the majority of people find lyrical music to be distracting. Next time, try switching up your jams for something ambient or instrumental.
2. Familiarity is your friend
If you are one who finds focus just as easy, if not easier, with music on, this is the tip for you! Listening to music you have already heard before turns out to make things much easier for the big walnut upstairs! Not having to focus on what lies ahead in the song, your brain can save your primary focus for other, more important, things!
3. Environment
Most people spend about 1/3 of their lives working! So, needless to say, it’s important to jazz-up your workspace to make it as feng shui as possible! For more tips and tricks to having an organized desk space, check out pinterest here for cute ideas!
4. Cut to Classical!
We’ve all heard that classical music can help with young babies, and perhaps help with falling asleep. But, this could also be the secret weapon for many looking for an easy fix to their much-needed productivity boost. Music has the ability to put people in a heightened emotional state, making them more receptive to information. A study in France found that students who listened to a one-hour lecture where classical music was played in the background scored significantly higher in a quiz on the lecture when compared to a similar group of students who heard the lecture with no music.
5. Too Hot! Too Cold!
When it comes to the workplace, if you can’t take the heat….get up and change the thermostat! A month-long Cornell University study conducted in 2004 at Insurance Office of America’s headquarters in Orlando, Fl., found that chilly workers, or those too hot, make more errors and can’t stay focused! So, don’t just dress to impress, keep the temp in mind! Talk to your manager or boss about keeping the temperature at a comfortable level, and keep a small fan on your desk, or keep a spare sweater at your work station.
6. Matcha on my Mind
When it comes to our Boku Matcha Green Tea, the number one buzz word our customers are using is “focused”. Unlike coffee, our matcha does not give you jitters, spikes, or crashes! Matcha contains high concentrations of an amino acid called l-theanine that is unique to tea. It is an amazing property that can help to improve mood and concentration.
